Taharath Israel of St. Louis - The St. Louis Mikvah Association maintains two mikvahs for ritual immersions. They are the Staenberg Family Mikvah Building - Mikvah Shaindel Malkah located at 4 Millstone Campus in Creve Coeur, and the Rivkin-Zuckerman Shabbat Mikvah located in University City. The mikvahs are under the rabbinic supervision of the Rabbnanin Acharaim of the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis, Rabbi Menachem Greenblatt and Rabbi Yosef Landa
The Mikvah is owned, operated, and maintained by Taharath Israel, which is a religious not-for-profit organization established for the purpose of maintaining the Mikvah in accordance with Halacha (i.e., Jewish Orthodox religious law). It is an affiliate of the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis, which represents the unified Orthodox Jewish community of Greater St. Louis
The Mikvah facility is made available for use by married, or about to be married, Jewish women -- from throughout the Jewish community -- in observance of Taharat Hamishpacha, the sacred, age-old religious practices governing Jewish family life.
A note about conversions:
The Vaad Hoeir and Taharath Israel do not conduct or take part in any conversion procedures. Those are conducted by —and are the sole responsibility of — the officiating clergy. Immersion in the Mikvah does not in itself confer Halachic validity to a conversion.
Ongoing Halachic oversight of the Mikvahs is provided by the Rabbanim Achraim of the Vaad Hoeir, Rabbi Menachem Greenblatt and Rabbi Yosef Landa.
The Executive Director of the Vaad Hoeir, Rabbi Zvi Zuravin, oversees the building’s security.
Chana Huber is the Mikvah Coordinator.
The Sylvia Green Memorial Mikvah, located on the Millstone Campus, was constructed in 1979 with the Halachic guidance of the late Chief Rabbi of St. Louis, Rabbi Menachem Tzvi Eichenstein, of blessed memory. In 2021, it became known as the Staenberg Family Building, Mikvah Shaindel Malkah.
The Rivkin-Zuckerman Mikvah was constructed in the early 1990s at the same time as the Young Israel synagogue, with the Halachic direction of the late Chief Rabbi of the Vaad Hoeir, Rabbi Sholom Rivkin, of blessed memory.
Taharath Israel, the St. Louis Mikvah Association, strives to provide a safe, clean, modern space in which every Mikvah patron’s dignity and privacy is respected as they use our facilities for the purpose of ritual immersion
